University Assisted Community Schools-Monthly Meals with a Mission

University Assisted Community Schools is a grant-based initiative that serves Pond Gap Elementary School students. The full-service program is an extension of the regular school day for 92-100 students. Each day, UT students, faculty, and staff provide the children academic support services, physical education, music, and art programs. For most of these kids, this program has enhanced their interpersonal skills, strengthened their critical thinking, and allowed them to succeed more academically than ever before!

The funds from this VOLstarter project will be used to provide a monthly meeting for the parents and families of the enrolled students. This ‘Monthly Meal with Mission’ will provide the opportunity for hard working parents to sit with their children and learn more about the programs and lessons their child participates in every day. It also allows for their parents to meet fellow community members and connect them with support services.
